According to the statistics of General Administration of Customs, in Feb. 2003 China Custom imported 36,000-ton cotton valued at US$39.14 million, decreased by 45,512 tons in quantity and US$50.45 million dollars in value comparing to Jan. The export was 17,903 tons valued at US$18.87 million dollars, up by 4024 tons in quantity and US$3.87 million dollars comparing to Jan.
In Jan. and Feb. 2003, China accumulatively exported 31,782-ton cotton valued at US$33.77 million. The cumulative import during the period was 117,000 tons valued at US$130 million.
In Feb. China imported 28,000-ton cotton from the United States, taking up 78% of total import, valued at US$29.88 million.
Exported cotton was delivered to Singapore (6,298 tons), Thailand (4,305 tons), Indonesia (3,497 tons), and South Korea (2,272 tons) through Tianjin, Shanghai and Qingdao Customs. (C13)
