China’s export of textiles and garments to restricting countries (quota countries) was US$1.424 billion in Jan. 2003, a year-on-year increase of 35.59 percent, while the export to non-restricted countries was US$4.161 billion, a year-on year increase of 26.29 percent. China’s import of textiles and garments to restricting countries (quota countries) was US$66 million in Jan.2003, a year-on-year increase of 34.96 percent, while the import of non-restricted countries was US$1.098 billion, a year-on year increase of 17.12 percent. The export to the United States, China's third largest importer of textiles and garments, has been rising year by year. The export value in Jan.2003 was US$646 million, increasing by 38.73 percent. China's export value of US$661 million to the European Union also made remarkable progress, increasing by 31.09 percent. China's export of textile and garments to restricting countries increases steadily.
