HONG KONG: Fashion Fairs To Promote Clothing Industry
Two fashion fairs kicked off here concurrently Tuesday to promote the clothing industry of HongKong, which is the world's second largest clothing exporter.

Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2003 and a brand new fair, World Boutique, both organized by the Hong Kong Development Council (TDC), are to run until Jan. 17.
According to Chairman of TDC's Garment Advisory Committee Christopher Cheng, the fashion week has attracted 919 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions, offering a wide array of mass-market garment for international buyers.
Moreover, World Boutique, with focus on cutting-edge designers and labels, features 178 exhibitors specializing in apparel and fashion accessories including jewellery, shoes, bags, watches, sunglasses and shawls.
Those 178 exhibitors represent 270 fashion labels and designer brands from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, Canada, the United States, France, Spain, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
Apart from the exhibition, there will be 18 catwalk parades andseven seminars covering a wide range of topics from fashion trend forecast, branding strategy in the mainland to the importance of design services in enhancing product development.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Cheng pointed out that Hong Kong has a higher concentration of design boutiques than anywhere else in the world and is the major stepping-stone, in every sense,to the Chinese mainland.
Cheng added that the combination of these two events is not only the most significant annual promotion for the Hong Kong fashion industry, it also "underscores its importance as the most exciting flagship event for the fashion and clothing industry in Asia-Pacific."
