Trade Ties With Pakistan To Enchance

After a meeting of ambassador of Romania , Dr Emil Ghitulescu and the leaders of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) the two countries decided to boost bilateral trade by enhancing business opportunities for their respective businessmen.

A plan to enhance the frequency of trade delegations and sign memorandums of understanding on different aspects of trade was also drawn up and finalized. The ICCI was represented by its President Zubair Ahmed Malik, Vice-President Mian Rashid Humayun and executive member Aziz Malik.

The ICCI president observed that during the fiscal year 2002- 03, Pakistan's exports to Romania increased to $3.22 million, while imports from that country stood at $6.97 million.

The imported commodities included petroleum products, synthetic fibres and engineering goods. Pakistan exported textiles, cotton and silk yarn, rice, leather, fabrics and readymade garments. The Romanian envoy invited Pakistan to hold single country exhibition in his country. He said the Joint Ministerial Commission of the two countries would meet this year.
