Marketing Expands in the Year of the Tiger, Price Index Went up slightly

Market Review

Since the market in China textile city traditional trade area opened in Feb. 21 of the year of the Tiger (lunar Jan., 8), the domestic and foreign orders parially increased, small and large batches delivered ahead of the time can be seen. From Feb. 28 (the Lantern Festival) to March, 7, more and more salesrooms in China textile city traditional trade area resume the business. Up to now, the opening rate of the main markets is above 99%, the newly added business households reaches more than 300. Collected from 15 professional markets of China Textile City, according to the sample-data supervision and analysis on nearly 1000 representative products, the price index of 20100308 issue of "China•Keqiao Textile Index" closed at 94.25 points, up by 0.98% from last issue.The first product category showed: the price indices on raw materials, grey cloths, apparel fabrics and home textile rose up, pushing the price index on the general category to go up slightly; however, the price index on fashion accessories declined, relatively restraining the growth rate of the price index of the general category.

1. the price index on raw materials rose up sharply, different varieties in raw material markets increased.

The price index on raw materials closed at 87.22, up by 2.20% from the previous period, tending to go up sharply. Among them, the price index on other chemical fiber categories closed at 73.57 points, up by 1.48%. Since the spring festival holidays, weaving factories started to resume their production. Due to the increasing domestic and foreign demands and affected by the long-lasting short supply from manufactories, the quotations of spandex trade market were lifted up again, the prices still kept firm though rising up. After the Lantern Festival, more companies in the down chain started to operate, the transactions went up gradually, the transaction of small orders but high prices increased. The demand for nylon fiber went dull. Affected by the short supply of raw materials in the upper chain, the prices rose up gradually, so factories had limited stock. The domestic acrylic fiber market remained in a high position. The rise of the materials in the upper chain led to the increase of the price. The prices of spot products rose up accordingly and went unstable in the high position after the increase. Now, the production and marketing went well, no adequate products were in stock. The demand in the down chain needed to be boosted.

The price index on viscose category closed at 94.26 points, up by 8.59%. Recently, the prices of viscose staples tended to go up. To viscose staple 1.5DX38MM market, the quotation was 1950 yuan/ton on March 1, and about 19800 yuan/ton on March 5. The prices of cotton short fiber and cotton pulp went up. On March 1, the quotation of cotton short fibers was about 7400 yuan/ton, cotton pulp about 12500 yuan/ton. Till the fifth, cotton short fibers about 7600 yuan/ton, cotton pulp about 12800 yuan/ton, leading the market prices of viscose staple to rise day by day. Due to the constant steady uptrend of the upper materials, cotton yarn factories kept steady and up. Some factories had limited stock, the sales went relatively active, some varieties had good market.

2. the price index on grey cloths went up slightly, different grey cloths had increasing prices and sales volumes in the spring market of the year

The price index on grey cloths closed at 95.08 points, up by 0.88% compared with the previous period, tending to climb up slightly. Analyzed from the market, in this issue, natural fiber grey cloths of this category tended to go up slightly, specially cotton grey cloths, pushing the price index to climb up. The price index on chemical fiber grey cloths tended to go up, mainly polyester grey cloths, polyster/linen grey cloths and polyester satin grey cloths which had an increase in sales and drove the price index to go up. The price index on blended fiber grey cloths tended to rise slightly. T/C grey cloths, T/R grey cloths, nylon/viscose grey cloths, nylon/cotton grey cloths and nylon/cotton/linen grey cloths had increasing transactions, driving the price index to go upward.

3. the price index on apparel fabrics rose up slightly, the sales expanded in the spring market

The price index on apparel fabrics closed at 99.27 points, up by 0.34% from last issue, tending to rise. Among them, the price index on T/R fabrics closed at 103.19 points, up by 2.06%. Since the opening of the spring market in China textile city, steam calendered single-faced serge, double-faced serge, satin back serge, toothpick serge and satin drill in 300—420 g/m, mainly woven by T/R65/35 yarn 30S, 32S and 40S, were favored by target clients in each secondary market and clothing manufactories. The purchase for small quantities of different varieties and large orders were easily obtained. The sales in T/R hopsack, T/R serge and T/R satin drill woven by T/R yarn 20S 25S 30S 32S 40S, T/R 65/35 yarn, T/R80/20 yarn 24S/2 30S/2 32S/2 40S/2 went well though having small volume, target clothing factories still placed large orders; The spring products such as T/R gabardine, badi fabrics and valitine partially had the spot sales and orders.

The price index on T/C fabrics closed at 90.42 points, up by 0.17%. Since the opening of the spring market in China textile city this year, the spot transactions and obtaining orders for T/C blended fabrics used to make spring men’s and ladies’ leisure wear and shirts went smoothly. In this series, spring fabrics, particularly T/R reactive printed drill, T/C reactive printed canvas, had good spot transactions and more orders, the order prices for new patterns climbed slightly. Dyed and tie-dyed products such as T/C fabrics and T/C high-density twill had an increase in domestic and foreign orders, small and large batches delivered ahead of time can be seen. Spring non-conventional density T/C fabrics, especially jacquard, embroidered, motif, etched-out, burnt-out, reactive pad-dyed, dyed-yarn fabrics and other spring and summer ladies’s leisure wear increased in the market, middle-grade and low-grade products in some salesrooms were ordered and transacted.

4. the price index on home textile were pushed up slightly, curtains and curtain gauzes had their charm in the marketing

The price index on home textile closed at 95.64 points, up by 0.37% from the previous period in a slight uptrend. Among them, the price index on curtains closed at 100.78 points, up by 0.18%. Since the opening of the spring market in China textile city, curtains started to sell well first. Up to now, the varieties increased in the market, good market appeared. Fabrics in creative designs attracted target customers to purchase, some large salesrooms and cloths companies tended to have an increase in transaction batches and quantities. To transferred printed curtain fabrics, rotary screen printed curtain fabrics, plate screen printed curtain fabrics and jacquard curtain fabrics, jacquard printed curtain fabrics, printed embroidered curtain fabrics and jacquard embroidered curtain fabrics made by FDY network fibers, FDY lustrous triangle profiled fiber and embossed rayon fibers, the products in 280CM width ocuppied the majority of the market shares, the products in 150CM and 160CM width also started to sell in large quantities. Till now, curtain varieties increased, fabrics in target designs were partially sold largely, but the whole sales volume remained inadequate. The price index on curtain gauzes closed at 91.23 points, up by 0.29%. Since the opening of the market, some large salesrooms had a slight increase in curtain gauzes in target designs. To calendered, embroidered, golden paillette chain embroidery, etched-out, openwork, drownwork and jacquard curtain gauzes mainly woven by voile, terylene, lustrous slub yarn, lustrous openwork yarn, brigh yarn and pearlite yarn, the new-style products in 280CM width were purchased largely by target customers; embroidered curtain gauzes came into the market largely, the fabrics in different patterns attracted target customers to buy small quantity of differen varieties and place orders for large quantity, the prices of fabrics in creative designs were higher than that of staple products.

5. the price index on fashion accessories declined slightly, the price index on apparel linings rose up

The price index on fashion accessories closed at 93.81 points, down by 0.25% and tending to decline slightly. Among them, the price index on apparel linings closed at 89.74 points, up by 0.86% from last issue. Since the opening of the market, due to the increasing demand, the prices of apparel linings rose up slightly, the rising tendency tended to expend. Owing to the inadequate workers, small and medium-sized weaving factories had inadequate operating machine rate after the operation. In the whole market, lining grey cloths were sold inadequately, finished apparel linings had limited spot produsts, finished varieties came into the market due to the rise of grey cloth prices. The sales in polyester taffeta, polyester trilobal, five-heddle satin and other finished linings tended to go up gradually, the prices and sales volumes of target varieties increased. However, due to no enough grey cloths, the sales volumes in finished linings were insufficient.

Future Forecast

Up to now, the production and marketing of Shaoxing textile companies grow gradually. Some cloths companies and large salesrooms in China textile city had an increase in spring fabric spot transaction and orders, the demands for creative fabrics partially recover, the foreign orders increase. The sales in polyester fabrics, cotton fabrics, T/R wool-like fabrics, T/C blended fabrics, polyester/nylon fashion fabrics, nylon/cotton fashion fabrics, multi-chemical fiber wool-like spring fabrics rise gradually, so the future trade is expected to grow in certain degrees.

In this issue, the price indices on viscose category, fashiona fabrics, cotton/ramie, household hometextile and T/R fabrics ranked the first five categories in rising. The sales volume increased in different degrees compared with last issue. The slight increase of unit price of partial representative products was the main factor.
