Louis Vuitton came to China early in 1992 with its first shop opened in Beijing. It has topped the Chinese consumers' favorite luxury brands list for several years. Now, its shops not only spread first tier cities but also second and third tier cities like Taiyuan, Wenzhou, Wuhan, Xiamen and Xi'an and so on. China market has become its second largest market now. It is no doubt that the number of LV shops in China will continue rising. LV's expansion won't stop.
The first Hermes shop was opened in 1996 in Beijing. Now, it owns shops in 14 cities in China including Shanghai, Hangzhou, Tianjin and Shenzhen and so on. Although the number of Hermes stores in China increases, its relatively high prices (compared to other luxury brands) exclude many common consumers. Hermes ranked only 9th on the list of Chinese consumers' favorite luxury brands. As a result, Hermes launched a new brand for Chinese market to help its expansion in China.
Uniqlo arrived in Shanghai in 2002. It not only has 64 stores in various cities in China but also provides online shopping for Chinese consumers. China market has become an important engine of growth for Uniqlo.
Zara entered China market in 2006. With four years of development, it has 35 stores in different cities such as Beijing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Ningbo and Shenyang and so on. Now, Zara has become a very popular fast fashion brand in China. A lot of consumers will line up to buy its products when Zara opens its store in a new city.
Levi’s came to China in 2001. Its products are warmly welcomed by Chinese consumers. Now it has one or more shops in 42 cities, many of which are third tier cities. What's more, Levi's is going to launch a new brand for China market. It is possible that its sale in China will boom.
Nike came to China early in 1980. Its various kinds of products with perfect quality win a lot of consumers. Nike has dominated China’s sports products market for many years. Now, Nike tries to develop its market in second and third tier cities.
